A mother is a very special person.She must have the ability to handle many situations and do assume many roles.She must be loving, giving, self-sacrificing, gentle, compassionate, understanding, patient, kind, accepting, and forgiving.Perhaps, the greatest characteristic of a mother is her ability to give selflessly without expecting anything in return; giving even with the realization that there may be no “thank you” and no appreciation.

A mother must be able to give guidance, direction and discipline to her children when needed, read the subtle gestures and expressions her children convey and hear their unspoken words. She must be realistically accept her children for what they are and love them in spite of their shortcomings, and in spite of the sorrow they may cause her.In short, a mother must be able to forgive and forget.

When her children are grown, a mother must let them lead their own lives and muct respect their opinions and life styles.Most of all, a mother must have the ability to share in the joys, laughter, and dreams of her children and reap the benefits that being a mother can bring.

Blessed is the mother who understands her child, for she shall inherit a kingdom of memories.

Blessed is the mother who knows how to comfort, for she shall possess a child’s devotion.

Blessed is the mother who teaches respect, for she shall be respected.

Blessed is the mother who has character strong enough to withstand the thoughtless remarks and resentments of the growing child, for again, in due time she shall be honored.

Blessed is the mother who guides by the path of righteousness, for she shall be proud of her offspring.
